How do I Add/Edit/Delete Templates in Pixopa?

A template is a tool to hold the designs of a particular product.One template can have single design for single or multiple sizes. For example,if we have to show designs for a product, we will create those designs via templates.

Template details can be accessed by selecting Manage Templates option in Web to Print Menu.

To Add New Template

Go to Manage Templates

  • Clicking on this option will open the Manage Templates page. This page will display templates information under following headings

    • Template Image

    • Template Name

    • Product

    • Topic

    • Events & Occasions

    • Recipient

    • Color Category

    • For Create Your Own

    • Status

    • Action

  • You can add new templates using ‘Add New Template’ button given at the Top Right of this page.

  • Clicking on ‘Add New Template’ button will open the new page.

This page has 2 sections:

  • Left Pane: This smaller area contains various sections of template details to be added, like – General Information, Product Association, Category Association, and SEO.

  • Centre Pane: This area has fields to enter details for template.

  • General Information Tab: Enter following details for the template in this area:

    • Template Name: Add the Name of template here.

    • Store View: You can select the store views in which this template will be shown. If you want to show it on all store views, select ‘All Store Views’

    • Status: You can set the template to enabled or disabled status. A disabled template will not be displayed in frontend.

    • Color Category: Add the color category you want this template to be added to.

    • Designer: You can set the template to enabled or disabled status. A disabled template will not be displayed in frontend.

    • Is Featured: Select Yes, if you want this to be a Featured Template

    • Is Popular: Select Yes, If you want this template to be shown under Popular category.

    • For Create Your Own: – Select Yes, if you are creating this template for displaying in Create Your Own menu. In Create Your Own menu, when customer clicks any product,its description is shown with a single empty template for that product (the template marked as YES in this option).For every new product added to Pixopa, you need to create one template that has ‘For Create Your Own’ value as ‘Yes’. For this template, you just need to select size, select other attributes, and click on Let’s Design button. This will open Design Studio, where you just have to save design, keeping it empty. Repeat this for all sizesand save template. Now, your new product will open in Design Studio in frontend, when customer clicks on Design Your Own button.

    • Image: Image of template will be shown here, once the template is created.

    • Created Date: You cannot edit this field. Here you can see the date on which this template was created.

    • Last Updated Date: You cannot edit this field. This field shows the date on which this template was last modified

  • Product Association Tab: In this tab, you can associate the template to a product, and its variants, create a design, and duplicate it to other variants with some modifications.

    • Product: Select the name of product for which this template is being designed. Once you’ve selected a product, click on Add Design button. This will open another box below, having following fields:

    • Size: Select the size for which you want to create this design.

    • Selecting size opens all other attributes of this product,like following:

    • No. of Pages: Number of pages in template

    • Binding: Spiral / Hard Binding

    • Binding Side: Top / Left (Dropdown)

    • Paper Type: Location of perforation (Dropdown)

    • By default, all the values of these attributes are pre-selected. You may select / de-select multiple values by keeping shift key pressed and clicking on the values.

  • Let’s Design: Once you are done with selecting other attributes, click on Let’s Design button to create a design. This will open the design studio.

To Add Text

  • You can select Add Text tool from the left-side Standard Tool Box to add text to your template design.

  • Clicking on this tool will show a text box at the centre of canvas, and you can start typing text.

  • You can also change font family, size, bold, italic, underline, text color, text stroke (outline) color, stroke width, text opacity/transparency, its alignment (left, centre, right), bring text in front of other objects, send it behind other objects, and perform other functions using Text Toolbar.

  • You can also lock the text to be editable in frontend by using Lock option in Text toolbar. Once locked this text can’t be changed unless it is unlocked

  • If you want the text to be editable by customer in Template Personalization page (without opening the design studio), you can associate this text to a text field. For this, select the text, look for the Advanced section in Text Toolbar, open the Select Text Field dropdown, and select the text field you want this text to be associated to (Refer the next screenshot).

  • Now, the customer can edit this text in frontend in Template Personalization Page (without a need to open design studio).

To Add Image

  • You can select Add Image tool from the left-side Standard Tool Box to add image(s) to your template design.

  • Clicking on this tool will show a dialogue box ‘Please browse the image for upload’. Click on Choose File button, select file from your system, and click on Upload button. This will upload image on canvas.

  • You can also change image opacity, its alignment (left, centre, right), bring it in front of other objects, send it behind other objects, change its position, height and width, crop it, rotate it, and perform other functions using Image Toolbar.

  • You can also lock the image to be editable in frontend by using Lock option in Image toolbar. Once locked this image can’t be changed unless it is unlocked.

  • If you want the image to be replaceable by customer in Template Personalization page (without opening the design studio), you can associate this image to a image field. For this, select the image, look for the advanced section in Image Toolbar, open the Select Image Field dropdown, and select the image field you want this image to be associated to.

  • Now, the customer can replace this image in frontend in Template Personalization Page with any other image of his choice (without a need to open design studio).

This is how template will look in frontend in Template Personalization Page. Customer can directly edit text and replace image here, and Add to Cart, without a need to open Design Studio.

This is how template will look in frontend in Template Personalization Page after personalization. Customer may now directly add this item to cart, or can click ‘Customize More’ button to edit the template design further in Pixopa Design Studio.

Coming back to backend template builder, once you have completed the design in design studio, click on ‘Save’ button. This will bring you back to Product Association tab

    Design preview will be shown on this page. Other functions that can be performed on this page are:

  • Download PDF: You can download a PDF version of your design by clicking on this button.

  • Delete Design: This button will remove this complete box, and all the actions performed under it, namely, size association, attribute values association, and the design. This complete box will be removed.

  • Add Design: This button can be used to duplicate this design for other sizes and/or variants. Clicking on this button will open another box.

To Add placeholder image

  • You can follow the same steps steps as you did for adding image which are mentioned above.as you did for adding image which are mentioned above.

  • To always select the image 1st for editing in case if you have text also on canvas, click on the “always on top” check box to enable it.

Click on ‘Save’ button. This will bring you back to Product Association tab.

This is how template will look in frontend in Template Personalization Page. Now on clicking the image the user will be directed towards the image up loader.

    Design preview will be shown on this page. other functions that can be performed on this page are:

  • Download pdf: you can download a pdf version of your design by clicking on this button.

  • Delete design: this button will remove this complete box, and all the actions performed under it, namely, size association, attribute values association, and the design. this complete box will be removed.

  • Add design: this button can be used to duplicate this design for other sizes and/or variants. clicking on this button will open another box.

You can once again add sizes and other attributes and click on let’s design button. this will open the design studio once again loaded with design created in previous box.

You can edit your design as per the new size and other attributes, and click on save button. this will lead back to product association tab. once you are done with product association and designing, click on category association tab.

Remember that, you should not repeat the same template design for different:

  • Sizes

  • Sides, like, single sided and double sided, inside only and inside and outside

  • Shapes, like, rectangle, circular, rounded corner rectangle

  • Orientations, like, portrait and landscape

  • Hole locations

  • Hole drillings/ hole sizes

  • Binding sides

  • Wrappings

Though, the template design may sometimes fit in a different shape, no. of sides, or orientation, it is always better to add a separate template design for it, (where the existing design will automatically be shown,) and adjust it to new canvas. click on ‘add design’ button, select new attributes, click on ’let’s design’, adjust design to new canvas, and save.

Category Association Tab

This page has three main categories, with various sub-categories under them, sometimes up to 4 levels deep. You can select the category you want your template to be associated to. Selecting a category will display the template when the user clicks on those categories in menus, layered navigation, or directly in search.

SEO Tab

Once you have selected the categories for your template, click on SEO tab.

You can enter the keywords and description for this template in the text boxes provided. Once you are done, click on Save Item button on top right of page to save this template and go back to Manage Template page. Your template will be visible on this page now.

Other buttons on Template Information page are as follows:

  • Back: Clicking this button will reset the template to last saved version. You will remain on the same page and all the unsaved changes will be lost.

  • Reset: Clicking this button will reset the template to last saved version. You will remain on the same page and all the unsaved changes will be lost.

  • Save Item: This option will save the template and take you to Manage Template page.

  • Save And Continue Edit: By clicking on this button, you can save the changes in template and continue editing it. You will remain on the same page.

To Edit Template

To edit a template, click on Edit link in template’s row, under Action column (alternatively, you may click anywhere in template’s row). This will open Edit Template page. Edit any field (General Information, Product Association, Category Association, SEO) as required. You may also change the design, by clicking on ‘Let’s Design’ button under any design on Product Association tab

You can see five buttons at the top right of the page:

  • Back: Clicking on this button will take you back to the Template Manager Page. All the unsaved changes will be lost.

  • Reset: Clicking this button will reset the template to last saved version. You will remain on the same page and all the unsaved changes will be lost.

  • Delete Template: Clicking on this button will delete the template from the system.

  • Save Template: This button saves the changes made to template details, and takes you to Template Manager page.

  • Save and Continue Edit: Clicking on this button saves the changes and you remain on the same page.

To Delete Template

There are two methods of deleting a template:

  • Method I

    • In Template Manager page, click on checkbox in first column of the template’s row.

    • Open the Actions Dropdown in the Heading of this table (the row even above column headings).

    • Select the Delete option.

    • Click on Submit. A message asking ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ will be displayed. Click on OK and the template will be deleted

  • Method II

    • In Template Manager page, click on the Template’s row. This will open Edit Template page.

    • Click on the ‘Delete Template’ button on the top right corner of page. A message asking ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ will be displayed. Click on OK and the template will be deleted.
